What an amazing experience! Discover Mongolia was highly organized from the moment we touched down in UB - to the minute we left the country. Each member of their team was polite, kind, and most spoke exceptional English. Our main tour guide, Oyuna, was fantastic. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for sharing Mongolia's culture and traditions was obvious from the moment we met her! She elevated the trip, and we really enjoyed the extra effort she went through in the face of some unanticipated changes to be sure that everything went smoothly for us.
We planned this trip so that my husband could fulfill his "bucket" list item of seeing Nadaam Archery. Oyuna went above and beyond to ensure that we not only watched the competition - but she scheduled a private lesson for us with one of the competitors! It was an amazing experience (many other of our tour group members came, too), and aligns with how Discover Mongolia went above and beyond to meet our needs.
The trip spanned the entire country - basically, a beautiful, long, road trip in very capable (and cool!) off-rode trucks driven by highly skilled drivers, with about one cultural activity per day. In the South where we began, we enjoyed the Nadaam Festival and the Gobi desert - rode camels, climbed sand dunes, and took in the scenery. As we drove North, we saw so many animals, Buddhist temples, a wonderful museum, and had a unique experience with a Nomadic Family. The last few days we spent on a gorgeous lake bordering Russia and had the opportunity to meet a family whose community has little interaction with the "modern" world and raises domesticated Reindeer.
I was nervous about booking an international trip to Mongolia - it was very far, a long time off of work, and very expensive for us. Using Discover Mongolia made it easy - from booking to arrival. I wouldn't hesitate a moment to book with them again, or recommend them to our friends and family.
We really couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Wonderful tour with a stunning opening ceremony of the Nadaam festival. Visually stunning country and the people were so friendly. Well organized tour and the Gobi desert was amazing. Staying in gers was just fantastic.
The tour was absolutely wonderful, 12 of us traveled for 2700kms in comfortable 4 Wheel Drive vehicles driven by expert local men who were able to repair any mechanical problems that occurred on the very challenging off-road conditions.
The changing landscape from the Gobi Desert to the Steppes and for sets of the north was spectacular and wherever we went there was something of great interest to explore, whether it was giant sand dunes, cliffs where dinosaur bones were discovered, ruined monasteries, colorful festivals with traditional sporting events, visits to very hospitable Nomad families, the list goes on.
Our guide; Oyuna was exceptional, she was warm and friendly, spoke excellent English, coped calmly and efficiently with any problem that arose, we ended our tour having made a new friend. Our group varied in nationality and age and we traveled together very well indeed. I highly recommend the company.
We had the best guide and experienced the countryside and the city.
The people met and stayed with showed us hospitality and kindness that made the trip a good experience for me. Adventures like rafting, off-road biking, and visiting temples and museums were some of the highlights of the trip.
Our group of 3 friends had an amazing but short trip to Mongolia.
We hiked to Turtle Rock and to the Aryaval monastery & meditation center, rode horses and did river-rafting at Terelj National Park; explored the Flaming Cliffs, hiked the Yolyn Am valley, climbed sand dunes on camel back and visited the Havtsgait Petroglyph in the Gobi Desert; visited the Genghis Khan equestrian statue and a enjoyed a day tour of Ulaanbaator.
All these were made infinitely more delightful with our wonderful guide Mir and our steady and capable drivers Nyamlai and Daamba. Mir was knowledgeable, passionate, flexible with the itinerary and most of all, great fun!
I must commend Discover Mongolia Travel for treating their employees well, and it reflects the enthusiasm and confidence we received from them. Well done!
We used Discover Mongolia to arrange a day trip. We wanted to go riding, and Discover Mongolia delivered.
They arranged an excellent guide, Amy (who was knowledgable, passionate, and very easy going) and a driver with a sturdy and fast 4x4! They collected us from our digs in UB, and we headed out to the Mongol Nomads camp on the road to Khustai.
We had a traditional lunch and then headed out on horseback down the beautiful valley with Amy and the guy who had the horses. The horses were sturdy, responsive and well behaved without being just 'plodder' trekking ponies.
The ride lasted about 2.5 hours, and we stopped midway to have a breather and a chat. We went back home happy and tired, and much more knowledgable about Mongolia, its customs and wonderful people. Bat in the office was communicative and put the trip together at very short notice for us.
We had planned to use them again but sadly had to cut our trip short.
Thanks to the team for a wonderful day.
